Florida's HEROs Early Care and Education Center Recognition Program

The Health Council of Southeast Florida uses a multi-faceted approach to prevent childhood obesity and support nutrition best practices. The Health Council does this by managing Florida's HEROs Early Care and Education Center Recognition Program, providing technical assistance statewide for the recognition program and implementing best practices, developing statewide partnerships, and assessing and filling the training gap for early care and education (ECE) providers in Florida. Florida's HEROs, Healthy Environments Reducing Obesity is supported by funding from Nemours Children's Health System through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We collaborate with Early Care and Education stakeholders like the Florida Department of Health, Florida Department of Children and Families and the Florida Office of Early Learning, we aim to help Florida’s children be the healthiest they can be.
